I went to a different dealership for an oil change because it was a bit closer, what you see below is the result. That's an oil soaked shop towel that was wedged in between the filter and pedestal, resting on the hot side of the rotary engine.
Then they called me the next day asking to trade in my vehicle...

Sometimes people make mistakes, like taking their car to the dealership for oil changes.

For a long time, there was only one Mazda dealer in my town. I took my '99 Miata and '06 Mazdaspeed 6 to them for service, although I had mostly been going to an independent shop that was cheaper and would install performance parts I bought online and brought to them.
Another Mazda dealer opened up a couple years ago, but I've never been there. I got rid of the MS6 in June 2013. But for some reason they've been sending me a bunch of junk mail lately, wanting me to trade in my MS6.
I PaperKarma 'd that shit.

THIS. As a person who works at a dealership, I know for a fact that if you make a scene they will give you SOMETHING to make you shut up, especially with a mistake that dangerous.

That probably just means their parts guys are new, or new ish. their cars don't all have the same thing, and their system might work off the vin.

Ebay works off of the name and year, with the EPC mazda uses, it could just work off the vin.

Ebay doesn't use Mazda's computer system.

I think the service should at least be on the house considering the damage that could've done if it caught fire.

I could go on and on about how manufacturers are pressuring the dealers into gaining customer retention by offering things like Express Lube, and coupons out the ass, so the dealers are forced to either pay highly qualified techs next to nothing to do oil changes, or hire some hourly minimum wage lube jockey to do them.....
But I won't.

Sometimes you get lucky, and the model interchange on there is correct. Or the part you needed wasn't one of the many that are trim, production date, and model code specific.

I gave them an ear-full on the phone but it was some salesman who'd have "someone of a higher paygrade" call me back, never did. Oh well, just happy my car didn't burn to the ground and they can thank me for the review on google.

Lousy Customer Service. They should have bent over backwards to make it right. Good idea on a review.

Might want to fix that link. When I clicked on it, it said at the top, "We sent g******@yahoo.com( email censored by me ) an email containing a link to reset your password."

Weird, that's just to their main site. If I go to it directly it doesn't pop up, but if I click thru here it also pops up a random email that it's sending a password reset window. Post is outside the edit window so I can't change it.

could've been worse , i work at Subaru dealer , tech drained gearbox oil as per service schedule , serviced rest of car underneath , lowered car , completed rest of service , except for refilling gearbox , D'OH. car went a 10 kms down freeway , then came to a grinding halt , many $$$$ later customer had another gearbox in his WRX , and tech is no longer employed by us.

10 KM, that's pretty good for no oil!
